FD 172 - Patterning and Draping

This course will provide students the opportunity to learn flat pattern and draping techniques used in the development of patterns for apparel and accessories. Special emphases will be placed on acquisition of skills related to measurement, creation and manipulation of slopers, pattern layout, marketing and cutting as well as the preparation of fabrics to be used in apparel construction for mock-ups and actual garments. Students will be introduced to the use of computerized patterning and marking software for the apparel industry. Note(s) This class is a pre-requisite for most upper-division FD courses.
