Organizational Leadership (M.S.)

The M.S. degree in Organizational Leadership is designed for individuals from a variety of academic and work backgrounds who desire to positively influence the human dynamics within organizations. Coursework provides students with the opportunities to learn about and apply contemporary theory in organization change and development, critical and creative thinking, organizational learning, leadership, conflict resolution and strategic planning.

Foundation Course (6 hours)

To enhance their success in the program, students are required to take the following foundation courses. Students must pass the foundation courses prior to beginning their major coursework.

Organizational Leadership Major Core (24 hours)


Students will chose one of the following two concentrations.

Accounting, Public

Accounting, Managerial

Nonprofit Leadership

Nonprofit Leadership is designed to help inspire and prepare leaders in a wide variety of nonprofit settings including medical, educational, charitable, and social entrepreneurial organizations. It teaches leaders how to effectively work with volunteers and board members, as well as managing fund development and nonprofit budgets; and it gives leaders the necessary skills to brand and market their organization. There are only four courses in this concentration. They are:

Strategic Thinking and Innovation

This concentration is designed to help leaders embrace critical thinking, creativity, and change in organizational settings. It is a concentration designed to help leaders understand how to solve complex problems and the organizational dynamics and culture that prevent good ideas from taking place. It also helps participants to be proactive in their own critical and creative thinking and not fear change, innovation, and new ideas. There are only four courses in this concentration. They are:


Total Semester Hours Required for Degree:  36-39 semester hours. This does not include foundation courses or required prerequisites.
