The M.A.T. in Early Childhood Education is an initial certification program designed for candidates who have completed a baccalaureate degree. In addition to all the course requirements, students must pass the Teaching Field Content Exams for academic content area (GACE) prior to placement with a school system to student teach.
A total of 9-12 hours of clinical experience is required: 9 hours of student teaching or 12 hours of internship. Choose from student teaching sequence (9 hours) for one semester or the internship experience (12 hours) over several semesters.
Field Experience: Will have field experience in each of the following grade levels: P-K, 1-3 and 4-5 in designated courses.
