The third of three Medicine-Focused specialty electives. A 4 week full-time placement with a physician board certified in one of the following Medicine-focused specialties: Cardiology,Pulmonary, Critical Care, Neurology, Nephrology, Hematology/Oncology, Endocrinology, Infectious Disease, Gastroenterology, Rural Medicine.

Students will learn the principles of routine (well) care, management of acute illnesses, and management of chronic/multiple diagnoses of patients spanning the lifespan including care of infants, children and adolescents, adults and elders with acute and chronic diseases. Students will develop the recognition and treatment of acutely ill patients of all ages and those surgical interventions appropriate for the myriad of cases seen across the lifespan. The student will be able to address the biopsychosocial needs of each patient and collaborate across the Interprofessional team for the best patient outcomes. Prerequisite(s): PA 711
