This course introduces students to the elements and principles of design with the intent of developing in students the necessary composition and technical skills to create basic two-dimensional designs. Emphasis is placed upon mastery of principles of visual organization and introduction to a variety of two-dimensional media. Appropriate design terminology in written critiques and discussions will be required to develop the student’s ability to form and defend aesthetic judgments about works of art.
