This course provides the business student with a broad appreciation of the dynamic nature of management thought and action together with a solid conceptual framework for understanding both the role of management in complex modern organizations and for evaluating the effectiveness of managerial action in the control of those organizations. A broad overview of basic principles, theories, and frameworks by which the functioning of organizations can be analyzed is provided to lay a foundation for the business student’s anticipated further study of managerial action.
