This course will provide an overview of the DSM-IV-TR diagnostic system, an evaluation of the pros and cons associated with diagnostic system, and an introduction to alternative methods of diagnosis. The course is designed to train students to recognize and diagnose psychological disorders. Students will also be expected to become familiar with evolving information about the disorders, including differential diagnostic information, comorbidity rates, and issues related to the development and treatment of the various disorders across the lifespan.
