The Fashion Design Program at Brenau offers the a B.F.A. degree and provides students with the opportunity to develop their design skills with a thorough grounding in art and design foundations courses as well as in apparel construction and patterning. Experiences and study specific to the problem-solving associated with the design of garments, accessories and textiles are the focus of all upper-division work. Students may also elect to gain experience in historic clothing conservation and exhibition through work with the Brenau Historic Clothing Collection. A minor in Fashion Design is also offered.
Career Opportunities Our program is designed to prepare our students for further study at the graduate level and/or positions in the apparel industry. Fashion or costume design, textile design, fashion entrepreneurship, wardrobe styling, product development and manufacturing are just a few of the possible areas of employment for our graduates.
Course of Study In addition to the liberal education requirements, a degree in fashion design requires coursework in fashion design including two semester-long practicums and a 200 hour internship.
