The completion of the requirements for the M.A.T. will result in certification at the secondary level (Grades 6-12). The majors which will be considered for Brenau’s M.A.T. are biology, chemistry, English, history or related social science, mathematics, and physics (P-12). In addition to all the course requirements, students must pass the Teaching Field Content Exams for academic content area (GACE) prior to student teaching or internship.

* This symbol is part of the title of the course as this course is applicable to the Liberal Education curriculum as well.

Clinical Experience

A total of 9-12 hours of clinical experience is required. Choose student teaching course (9 hours) for one semester or the internship experience (12 hours) over several semesters.

The difference in hours is dependent upon the clinical experience the student chooses.
