Course of Study A degree in art education prepares a student to enter the teaching profession or graduate school. The curriculum provides a broad foundation in studio courses and the opportunity to specialize in one medium. Art education courses with field components give students practical experience in the classroom. Students must earn a C or better in all required courses and must complete all of the curriculum requirements before student teaching. Students must be accepted into the teacher education program by the School of Education and upon completion of the degree program will earn a teaching certificate for grades P-12. All art education majors must attend all departmental events and are strongly encouraged to be student members of the GAEA.
In addition to the requirements listed below, students are reminded that all majors will demonstrate oral and written communication competency within the context of specified writing and/or speech intensive courses in the major.
