The arts management degree program is interdisciplinary, featuring a balance between courses in business administration and courses in a chosen area of arts specialization. Other course offerings augment the training for this major, emphasizing broadening experiences of the other arts disciplines. The program is designed to produce students who are competent in dealing with a variety of publics, performing basic management functions, and possessing basic knowledge of the various art forms. For organizational purposes, arts management students are considered part of the student body of their chosen major arts field.
Career Opportunities A wide variety of career opportunities exist in professional, administrative, technical/production, marketing, or educational areas of arts oriented programs or institutions ranging from museums, galleries or civic and arts centers to consulting or performing groups.
Course of Study A degree in arts management shall consist of 78 or 79 hours in business administration, cross disciplinary arts and major arts field courses. In addition to the requirements listed below, students are reminded that all majors will demonstrate oral and written communication competency within the context of specified writing and/or speech intensive courses in the major. Students should consult their adviser for details. The following courses must be taken for a degree in arts management.
