Course of Study In addition to the requirements listed below, students are reminded that all majors must demonstrate competency in oral and written communication.
Students who major in English are encouraged, if they wish, to minor in an area outside the discipline. Minors of particular interest may be taken, for example, in communications (for those interested in journalism or public relations), gender studies, history and political science (for those interested in law school), business (for those interested in management), theatre, biology (for those interested in medical school) or science (for those interested in technical writing). Other minors are possible or a student may take elective courses in a variety of disciplines.
English majors have the option of completing a concentration in Creative Writing. English majors with a Creating Writing concentration would take
