Secondary Education (M.A.T.)

The completion of the requirements for the M.A.T. will result in certification at the secondary level (Grades 6-12). The majors which will be considered for Brenau’s M.A.T. are biology, chemistry English, history or related social science, mathematics, physics and theatre (P-12). In addition to all the course requirements, students must pass the Teaching Field Content Exams for academic content area (GACE) prior to student teaching or internship.

Clinical Experience
A total of 12-15 hours of clinical experience is required. Students enroll for one semester hour of field experience each semester, for a combined total of three semester hours. Nine hours of student teaching or 12 hours of internship required. Choose one of the student teaching sequences (9 hours) listed below for one semester or the internship experience (12 hours) over several semesters. Total
Total Semester Hours Required for Degree: 40 - 43
The difference in hours is dependent upon the clinical experience the student chooses. There can be undergraduate courses applied toward concentration (content) requirements. |
