Advanced Placement for RN Students Brenau participates in the Georgia R.N./B.S.N. Articulation Plan. According to this plan, validation of previous nursing knowledge is not required for A.D.N. or Diploma graduates from a nationally accredited program who have at least 1000 hours of clinical practice in the last 3 years or who graduated within the last 4 years.
Individuals who meet these requirements will be given credit for the following courses once they pass NG 301R: HS 200, PY 309, HS 415, NG 306, NG 306C, NG 308, NG 308C, NG 345, NG 345C, NG 345L, NG 360, NG 404, NG 404C, NG 406, NG 406C, NG 432, NG 432L. These course credits are held in escrow until the R.N.-B.S.N. student successfully completes NG 301R-RN Bridge: Conceptual Basis of Professional Nursing, which is a 3 hour course. This course introduces the R.N. student to the theoretical model, organizing framework and outcomes of the B.S.N. curriculum. This course is designed to assist the R.N. with socialization into higher education in nursing.
A.D.N. or Diploma graduates who did not graduate from a nationally accredited program or who graduated more than four years ago and have less than 1000 hours of clinical practice in the last three years will be required to validate previous nursing knowledge by passing the ACE exam. The student must achieve a decision score of 85 or above on each exam and may take each exam no more than two times. If the student does not pass the exams after two tries, the student must take and pass the equivalent undergraduate course in order to progress in the program.
Students are strongly encouraged to complete all non-nursing requirements prior to registration in courses in the nursing major.
Students in the RN-BSN program must have a valid RN license as a registered nurse in Georgia or in the state in which the clinical experiences will be conducted. A copy of the current RN license will be maintained in the student’s file.
