ED 960 - Dissertation Advisement 1: Literature Review (3) This course is designed to help doctoral students master the writing of a literature review as the first step in developing a proposal for a dissertation. This course is an in depth experience of both writing and organizational skills necessary for building the components of a comprehensive review of literature which serves to inform a viable research question. Students will develop research questions, master search database programs, use research organizational tools, and ultimately, produce a draft literature review to expand in future semesters into Chapter 2 of the dissertation proposal. Format of the course includes, one on one advising sessions with subject matter experts, hands on experience with research tools, and frequent check-ins with dissertation committee chairs. The course is co-taught by a Brenau librarian supporting graduate level students, a COE graduate level faculty member, and dissertation committee chairs. Prerequisite(s): Approval of adviser Note(s) This course is taught pass/fail.
