ED 607 - Assessing and Teaching Language & Literacy

This course provides candidates with the knowledge to plan, implement, modify, and assess explicit, systematic, cumulative, evidence-based, and teacher-directed instruction in the foundational skills of reading based on principles and practices of scientific reading instruction. This includes phonological and phonemic awareness, phonics, word recognition, reading fluency, and listening and reading comprehension. This is a placement embedded course; a 48-hour field experience placement in a regionally accredited school is required during the course. Permission from the Clinical Experience Office is required to register. Prerequisite(s): Admission to TE, ED 600 and ED 612 Note(s) Clinical hours required.
