This course is an introduction to the management of pain, inflammation, tissue impairment, tone abnormalities and motion restrictions with the use of thermal agents,
electrical currents, electromagnetic agents and mechanical agents used by Physical Therapists in general practice. Lectures will highlight basic scientific rationale for approaches discussed while laboratory experience and problem solving using patient case studies should enhance the student’s understanding relative to direct patient care. The course will focus on basic science and procedure and then progress to application with use of case studies. Learning experiences that parallel student’s other current coursework will be utilized when possible.
