This course is aimed at developing learners’ reading and writing skills at an academic and discipline-specific level. The focus of the course is to develop learners’ ability to understand and communicate in English in an American University setting. In addition, learners will develop intercultural competence through activities and tasks designed for developing learners’ pragmatic competence-that is, ways of understanding and appropriately communicating with native speakers in various settings.
