This course is aimed at perfecting learners’ listening and speaking skills at an academic and discipline-specific level. The focus of the course is to develop learners’ ability to understand and communicate in English at a high proficiency level in a university setting. In addition, learners will develop skills through activities and tasks designed for promoting learners’ pragmatic competence-that is, ways of understanding and appropriately communicating through spoken language with native speakers in academic settings.
