ED 347 - Teaching and Assessing Language & Literacy

In this course, candidates will acquire the knowledge to plan, implement, modify, and assess explicit, systematic, cumulative, evidence-based, and teacher-directed instruction in the foundational skills of reading based on principles and practices of scientific reading instruction. Teaching and assessing phonological and phonemic awareness, phonics, word recognition, reading fluency, and listening and reading comprehension will be addressed. This is a placement embedded course; a 48-hour field experience placement in a regionally accredited school is required during the course. Permission from the Clinical Experience Office is required to register. Prerequisite(s): Admission to TE, ED 311 or ED 321; and ED 345
