This class will engage students in the theory and practice of teaching theater to youth. Students will be given hands-on training to prepare them as future teaching artists in school and community settings. Through short weekly readings and writing assignments, in-field observations, and individual projects, the course is designed to provide techniques to use in classrooms, after school programs, and other types of community-based settings in which one can combine artistic know-how with informed teaching strategies to understand firsthand the role of the teaching artist.
