This program is designed to graduate professionals to work in various public accounting and related fields and also provides students the opportunity to take coursework required for certification exams. Graduate level accounting courses may require undergraduate accounting prerequisites to have been completed; the specific prerequisites required will depend on the graduate accounting courses selected.
Upon completion of the program, graduates should be able to
- Be prepared to take the CPA exam
- Be knowledgeable of accounting rules, laws, and functions to enter a CPA firm or accounting position in a company
- Be able to prepare and analyze financial statements for business, non-profits, and governmental units
- Be able to complete individual and corporate income tax returns
- Be able to research and make recommendations for accounting and tax issues;
- Be able to plan and participate in an audit
- Be able to recognize fraudulent behavior and plan controls to prevent it
- Be able to prepare consolidated financial statements in GAAP or IFRS.
