PA 701 - Internal Medicine Rotation (5) A required five-week rotation (supervised clinical practice experience, or SCPE) that takes place in both outpatient and inpatient settings. The purpose of this rotation is to provide the student with SCPEs that address the fundamental principles and practice of internal medicine. Under the supervision of the program-identified clinical preceptor, the student will apply knowledge and skills learned during the didactic phase to the care of actual patients as a member of an inter-professional health care team. Emphasis will be on caring for both the acutely ill adult and geriatric patient, including those who require hospitalization, and the adult and geriatric patient with chronic illnesses. Students will also be expected to assess and address the patient’s behavioral and mental health status and implement appropriate counseling and preventive measures aimed at improving overall patient health status. Prerequisite(s): PA 641, PA 642, PA 644, PA 645, PA 646, PA 647
