TH 206 - Simulated Performance/Standardized Patient Education and Certification (1-2) This course is cross listed between the Nursing and Theatre departments and focuses on developing Interprofessional communication skills essential for the role of standardized patients in both the nursing and theatre student education. Students will explore and implement best practices in the art of simulated performances with a focus on the health sciences. They will practice giving and receiving professional feedback in real-life healthcare scenarios to enhance the education of both medical terminology and communication skills of healthcare providers. This course will contribute to the development of students eligible to play the role of standardized patient in the clinical education of health science students and may ultimately lead to certification in Standard Patient Qualifications through Brenau University. The course may also enable students to be eligible be for further interprofessional work in the healthcare fields, or in other simulated performance areas (role-play, theme park, etc.).
