The study of psychometrics enables students to understand the nuts and bolts of psychological testing through its entire cycle from theory/idea, test construction and standardization, administration and finally informing decisions about diagnoses and treatment of individuals. Students will comprehend the history of psychological testing. They will become fluent in
the utilization of the statistics needed to evaluate assessment instruments and test scores. Students will be able to differentiate among several different types of assessment procedures. Finally, students will apply ethical principles related to test interpretation and decisions. Further, students will evaluate contemporary topics in psychological assessment such as fair use with diverse individuals and new methods in the digital age.
