PY 833 - Child/Adolescent Psychotherapy and Neuroscience (3) This course is designed to assist students in integrating and enhancing their knowledge in a variety of evidence-based psychotherapies for children and adolescents by utilizing class presentations and discussion of therapy cases. Emphasis will be placed on differential diagnosis of disorders, formulation of treatment plans, assessment of treatment progress, examination of barriers and process issues affecting treatment, and use of evidence-based treatments. Combined with these instructional goals will be lectures and discussions aimed at developing student knowledge about the functional anatomy of the human brain and how this knowledge base impacts the psychotherapeutic treatment of child and adolescents. As such, how the human brain has developed in utero, from infancy through early childhood and into adolescent development will be examined.
