RMI 451 - Enterprise Risk Management

Students will understand the strategic and administrative aspects of enterprise risk management including understanding how a risk manager/CRO functions within a complex organization. Understand how to apply holistic risk identification techniques for pure and speculative risks. Explore how firms identify and manage emerging risks via alternative risk financing and transfer including the use of reinsurance and capital markets within a captive insurance company. Understand how to apply sophisticated and innovative risk management tools such as the application of key risk indicators, risk registers, and risk maps; forecasting loss contingencies and expected losses including data management; integrated risk financing; financial reinsurance; captives/risk retention groups; and benchmarking. Students will learn how to identify regulatory reporting requirements with respect to ERM and an organization’s risk management activities. ERM is also examined in the global economy via multinational corporations. Prerequisite(s): RMI 351
