Program Objectives The fashion merchandising program at Brenau is designed to prepare graduates for positions in fashion and related industries. Fashion merchandising requires a unique blend of fashion industry knowledge, business knowledge and computer skills. To become tomorrow’s leaders requires an understanding of the allied industry segments from raw materials to finished product and how to target chosen market segments. Graduates will acquire the knowledge to be successful merchandisers, planners, managers, marketers and promoters of fashion goods and services.
Career Opportunities Students graduating with a degree in fashion merchandising are prepared to enter product development, management as well as sales and marketing positions. Career opportunities include buyer, merchandising representative, special event coordinator, sales representative, showroom manager, retail manager or entrepreneur.
Course of Study In addition to the liberal education requirements, a degree in fashion merchandising requires courses in art and fashion merchandising - including one semester-long internship, as well as a required minor in Business.
Also, students are reminded that it is a requirement that all majors will demonstrate oral and written communication competency within the context of writing and/or speech intensive courses in the major.
